Privacy at FitCalc

The short version

FitCalc does not require a public account to use its calculators or read the Journal. Information is collected when you choose to subscribe to the newsletter or contact FitCalc. Basic calculator Shared Stats can be saved locally in your browser to make other calculators easier to use.

Calculator Shared Stats

After a valid calculation, FitCalc can save reusable values in local storage on that browser: age, the formula sex input, height, weight, unit preference, and a valid body-fat result calculated by the Body Fat Calculator. No account is required, and those Shared Stats are not sent to FitCalc.

Activity level, goals, goal weight, pace, calorie targets, macro preferences, exercise schedules, circumferences, and calculated results are not automatically saved as Shared Stats. The “Clear Saved Stats” control removes this saved calculator profile while leaving current visible form values in place. Local storage may be blocked or unavailable in some browsers; calculators continue to work without it.

Google Analytics and consent

FitCalc uses Google Analytics 4 to understand public page visits and improve the site. Analytics storage is denied by default and is enabled only after you select “Accept Analytics.” Advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization remain denied.

Calculator analytics uses limited categorical events such as the calculator used and unit system. FitCalc does not intentionally send names, email addresses, contact text, age, sex, body measurements, goals, calorie or macro results, or other calculator entries to Google Analytics. Public pages are measured; Admin pages are not configured with the public analytics integration.

Newsletter and Contact

Newsletter

If you voluntarily subscribe, FitCalc collects the email address you submit for newsletter delivery and operational duplicate prevention. Subscriber records are stored privately outside the public web root and are not displayed publicly. FitCalc does not operate a separate subscriber store for the popup and footer forms.

Contact

If you use the Contact form, FitCalc processes the name, email address, and message you provide so the message can be delivered and answered. Reply-To uses the validated email address you submit.

Cookies and browser storage

• A secure server session supports form security, CSRF protection, rate limiting, and other short-lived operational controls.
• fitcalc.analytics-consent.v1 remembers your analytics choice for up to 180 days.
• fitcalc.newsletter.v1 remembers newsletter dismissal or successful-subscription state so the popup is not repeatedly shown.
• fitcalc.shared-stats.v1 stores the optional calculator Shared Stats described above.

You can revisit the Analytics choice through the “Privacy settings” control. Browser storage can also be cleared through your browser settings.

Third parties and questions

Google Analytics is the analytics provider described above. Instagram links take you to an external website; FitCalc does not embed an Instagram tracking widget. External sites apply their own privacy practices.
