FitCalc FAQ
Straightforward answers about the product and the numbers.
How FitCalc works, what its estimates mean, and what stays in your browser.
FitCalc
What is FitCalc?
FitCalc connects a guided Plan, preference-based Nutrition recommendations, focused calculators, and educational Articles, Guides, and Methodology. It is an educational planning system, not medical care.
Are FitCalc results exact?
No. Equations and inputs produce useful estimates, not laboratory measurements or guarantees. Use them as starting points and calibrate them against consistent real-world trends.
FitCalc Plan
What does FitCalc Plan create?
Plan connects estimated energy needs, calorie and macro targets, goal context, and a planning roadmap when applicable. The result depends on the information and preferences you provide.
Does a projected date guarantee when I will reach a goal?
No. Timeline projections are planning estimates. Actual change depends on adherence, activity, water and glycogen shifts, individual adaptation, and other factors described in the Methodology.
Nutrition
How are foods recommended?
FitCalc Nutrition uses validated preferences, exclusions, dietary compatibility, category rules, and soft ranking to build recommendations from its catalog. It does not generate a medical meal plan.
Does Nutrition save my exclusions?
Only according to your persistence choice. With permission, validated preference identifiers may be stored locally in your browser; otherwise they remain limited to the current session.
Calculators
How is TDEE estimated?
FitCalc estimates BMR using Mifflin–St Jeor and multiplies it by the activity level you select. The result is a maintenance starting point, not a direct measurement.
What does BMI tell me?
BMI compares weight with height squared and provides an adult screening reference. It does not distinguish fat mass from lean mass and is not a diagnosis.
How is body-fat percentage estimated?
The Body Fat Calculator uses sex-specific U.S. Navy circumference equations. Measurement technique affects the result, and the estimate is not equivalent to a laboratory assessment.
Privacy & Data
Do I need an account?
No account is currently required. Supported saved FitCalc state is browser-local and does not sync to another device.
What is sent to Analytics?
Analytics storage is denied by default and enabled only after consent. FitCalc does not intentionally send names, body measurements, goals, calorie or macro results, or specific Nutrition exclusions to Google Analytics.
Can I clear saved FitCalc data?
Yes. The clear-saved-data control removes supported persisted profile, Plan, Nutrition, and handoff state while leaving separate Analytics and newsletter choices unchanged. See Privacy for details.
